Common Gym

Anyone who has begun a fitness routine and is serious about seeing effective results in a decent amount of time needs to be aware of the common gym and home training mistakes that people make. If you fall victim to any of them, they will become obstacles in your path to achieving your goals. Only when you are aware of them willyou be able to steer clear. The common gym and home training mistakes to avoid are discussed here.

Not setting proper goals

Everyone knows that you have to have goals when it comes to your fitness routine, but this does not mean any goal would do. They need to be S.M.A.R.T ones, which means they should be specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and time-specific. Having unrealistic goals means that you are setting yourself up for failure and it would only lead to disappointment, poor results and lack of motivation.

Trying to wing it

Many people make the mistake of going to the gym without a clear plan and do not know what training they will do. Some people just choose to machine-crawl i.e. move from one machine to the next because they do not know what to do. Your fitness routine needs to have a clear structure to ensure you can cover all the muscle groups. Plus, you have to ensure that the exercises are effective for the results you wish to get. For instance, the exercises can vary for weight loss goals and for building muscles.

Not having a schedule

When you are serious about getting results from your fitness routine, you need to have a proper training schedule and you need to stick to it. It is recommended that you train at the same time every day, unless your work schedule is different and tackle one target every week. This can make it considerably easier for you to achieve your goals in the long run.

Lacking motivation

You need to keep yourself motivated when you are engaging in your fitness routine, or you are likely to abandon it soon. One way to go about motivating yourself is listening to music while you are working out, or you can also listen to podcasts that interest you. But, bear in mind that whatever you are doing to keep yourself motivated should not distract you from the workout itself.

Do weight training

One of the biggest mistakes that people make when they start training is engaging only in cardio. Even if your primary goal is weight loss, it does not mean that you should only stick to cardio. There is no doubt that cardio can help you lose weight and help you get fit, but you will also lose muscle over time. Therefore, you should also incorporate weight training in your routine to ensure you are able to build muscles because this can also help you keep the weight off in the long-run. Plus, it improves your strength and makes you look better, which makes it even more important to do weight training.
